Black Forest Clock Association  //  Verein die Schwarzwalduhr

The producers of Black Forest Clocks can look back to a very successful year, so the report of chairman Ingolf Haas says.

At least 300 000 Black Forest Clocks have been produced in 1999, most of them for customers in North America.

Besides a review of the past year there were several agreements and coordinations for the future.

The main business meeting of the 140 members – that is about 90 % of all producers of Black Forest Clocks – as well as providers, dealers and collectors agreed to a change of the former name.

With only one vote against it the old name “Promoting Society” was altered into “Black Forest Clock Association”.

“We are more and more developping into an organisation of the clock-making industry,” Ingolf Haas stated as a reason for the new name.

The new quality certificate which was presented on this occasion for the first time will also help to improve the image of the Black Forest Cuckooclock.

By this certificate all those orginal Black Forest Clocks will be marked which work purely mechanically and which have been completely produced in the Black Forest including all their essential parts.

So consumers will get a help for their decision when they want to buy a clock. In the near future there will probably be Cuckoo Clocks from Eastern Europe on the market additionally to the present plastic products from the Far East.
